Scaling New Heights…Kalavanti Durg!!!

Nature trails, smoky mountains and scenic beauty is what you desire to experience on a weekend then just pack your bags and head towards Kalavanti Durg; nature at its best.

Kalavanti Durg is quite famous among avid trekking lovers. It is located amid Western Ghats on a hill top at a height of 2300 feet.

This was my first time trekking experience and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.
Proud Trekker

To reach to the mountain take the Mumbai-Pune Express Highway and deviate through Shedung toll naka (about 14 Km from panvel). Trek to Kalavanti Durg is a two stage process.

First stage starts from Thakurwadi to Prabalmachi village situated at mountain base. And the second stage is from Machi village to the mountain top. It took us around 3 hours to reach to the top of the mountain from Thakurwadi. My sincere thanks to the Mother Nature since weather was very pleasant on that particular day.

To reach at the top of the mountain we had to climb rock cut stairs through a steep slope and this is the most breath taking and nerve wrecking part of the trek. The panoramic view from the top of the mountain makes you forget the pain in the legs and the sweat from the body and gives you a sense of achievement.

View from Mountain Peak

Extreme care and safety need to be considered while climbing the stairs. To reach at the summit of the mountain peak is no Childs play so I skipped that part for some very good obvious reasons.

Machi villagers provide good food service at a very nominal price. We had placed our lunch order and continued with the second stage of the trekking and gorged on the food when we had scaled & captured the mountain peak.

Return journey from the mountain felt very easy as we had already done our hardship while climbing the mountain.

So trekking lovers just go out there and feel the adventure.

Happy & safe trekking to you!!!

 Tips:-
  • You can visit Prabalgad also from the Prabalmachi village.
  • Carry water bottles & fruits to quench your thirst and hunger enroute the mountain.
  • Click plenty of snaps & treasure the moments.
