Morbe Dam..

Rainy days and a long weekend at hand, for a moment I thought I’ll have to spend my weekend sitting idle at home.

Then an idea crossed my mind, why not just go out, soak some rain, watch some misty mountains and water gushing out of the abode of the mountains?

My husband suggested a place and the very next moment we were sitting in the car, driving towards our destination, the Morbe Dam.

To reach at the Morbe dam take Mumbai-Pune Express Highway and exit towards shedung fata (around 9 km from Panvel Railway station). When you reach at Chowk railway station (around 14 km from Shedung fata) take a right turn. A sign board at the side of the road will show direction towards the dam.

The Bigger Picture
It was raining when I visited the dam, so I soaked a lot of rain as I had wished. To my bad luck the entry to the dam was prohibited and I was disappointed. So we decided to see the Irshal gad adjoining the dam. I had thrilling walk till the top of the first mountain under the heavy downpour. Although I slipped 2-3 times but that didn’t deter me from continuing the adventure. But sadly I could not complete the trail as the descending villagers advised not to climb the mountain during the rains as the trek was very slippery.

So now we decided to see the Sandip Patil Reservoir near to the Morbe dam. We had our lunch and headed towards the reservoir. Again destiny, we lost our way to the reservoir, walked through the muddy fields and bushy terrain and finally reached at the reservoir. But there’s a direct kaccha road to the reservoir beside the Sriram industries off the old Mumbai-Pune express way just before hand of the HP petrol pump near to Chowk station.

Heavenly Experience :-)

The view of the reservoir was awesome. The running water made it even more stunning. It was a perfect place to take a dip and swim, but I wish, I knew how to swim. So I made myself comfortable in the stream water which was running from the reservoir. I spend quite a quality time at the reservoir and was very happy being at that place.

During the return journey we had a cup of lemon grass flavour tea to make ourselves warm. It’s a best remedy apart from wine ;-)
